ABOUT US
The Global Hygiene Initiative (GHI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by Aleena Kendirjian with a mission to elevate hygiene standards in underserved communities worldwide. GHI was inspired by a trip Aleena took to Armenia in May 2023, where she noticed the significant hygiene challenges faced by children in rural areas. This experience motivated her to take action by creating hygiene kits and educational posters to promote proper hygiene practices. Aleena returned to Armenia in September 2023 to distribute these resources and conduct educational workshops for children.
Since its inception, GHI has expanded beyond Armenia and is now working in communities across Southern America, the Middle East, Asia, and other regions with critical hygiene needs. Our efforts focus on providing essential hygiene supplies, educational materials, and sustainable solutions to improve health and well-being.
At GHI, we believe in the power of students, diasporan youth, and professionals to drive meaningful change. We encourage students to get involved by volunteering to lead hygiene education workshops and help with the distribution of kits. Diasporan youth can reconnect with their roots while making a global impact through local and international hygiene initiatives. We also welcome professionals from various fields to bring their expertise and mentorship to help GHI grow and thrive.
